Rogues, Strays and Odd Pieces to the Eastman Puzzle...

Family stories, internet search engines and just about everything else available makes it very clear that the Eastman families who stayed in Downton are genuinely related to Roger Eastman who emigrated to America. So far I have not been able to pin point the actual connection of my own branch of the family tree.

Over the centuries, towns got larger and families did too. But in the early years, the towns were nothing more than settlements and hamlets, families were small and everybody seemed to marry their neighbour and name their children after themselves. Not many records were kept in the early days and when the beginning of record keeping was made, a lot of the ancient records were lost or destroyed over time.

In truth, documentation on the early Eastman families from Downton and the surrounding hamlets and settlements may never be available. So much time has passed that any information that may have been kept at that time probably doesn't exist any more.

I have numerous pages of Eastman data that I can't fit anywhere. Either I can't match the correct parents to an individual or I have not been able to find relevant dates to help me with my research. I have decided to put all my mismatched data here because although it's still pieces to the Eastman puzzle, it's information that definitely does fit in to the Eastman family tree.

The following table is through one of my own research techniques. I find that putting data into tables in some form of order helps to get clues towards finding the relevant family members that fit together. It is also ideal for getting a "heads up" on certain individuals who may otherwise seem elusive.

The following information is a gold mine that was given to me personally by someone at the Downton City Council. As far as I know, it's only available on one other website on the internet and that's because I gave permission for it to be posted there. This information was given to me by somebody who has absolutely nothing to do with genealogy research and I appreciate the effort and kindness of heart in doing a "look up" on my behalf. 

This information is a mess, but it's fact (as is the above table) and it is definitely to do with with the Eastman lines of Downton. I have copied it verbatim, as it was given to me.
